Description
Baked clay stamp or mould linked to pottery work. Prismatic shape, the larger four sides are concave. Each smaller side has a matrix or stamp in negative with the motif to be stamped. In each case, the design is very similar and consists of a type of illustrative poly-lobed arch with central plant motif. Its size suggests it was suitable for use with large format pieces, such as earthenware jars or the rim of a well. The many fragments of large vessels decorated with stamp impressions found in the Jerez region indicates the possibility of local workshops making this type of piece.
